Chatroom Rules

The last thing to mention before I get started is that these rules are like the law. If you do not obey them, you will be penalized. However, don’t get frightened. They simply emphasize common sense, so if you have plenty of that, you will do just fine.

A one-time warning, if not comprehended will be followed with a ban.

Let’s go with the basic rules first though. I’ll explain in depth the choice of my rules with coherence, naturally.

Rule number 1: TOXICITY IS FORBIDDEN.

Reasoning: I shouldn’t have to explain why this is a rule that should be taken and has to be taken with maximum importance yet for the sake of clarification; I will.

The idea of toxicity and the instigation of negative behavior on its own is already bad, however, the main essential point where the idea of toxicity has a tendency to spiral out of control is when it’s wrongfully portrayed by users purposely. This action results in an uncomfortable atmosphere that no user, outside of toxic users themselves, would like to be in.

Furthermore, I would very much appreciate it if the idea of toxicity would be something that no user should ever think of. In the case where a user accordingly disobeys this rule, that user will get a warning and if this malicious behavior continues, that user will be banned.

Examples of toxicity:

• Direct harassment.

• Indirect harassment

• Downvoting

• Trolling

• Impersonation

• Cringe behavior

I’ll now state and explain the examples of toxicity above. For the record, should any new examples be at sight: DO NOT BE AFRAID TO TELL A MOD ABOUT IT.

Direct harassment:

A) Personal attacks that are orchestrated on the basis of hatred will not be allowed or any personal attacks at all.

B) Gangbangs, such as multiple users harassing one user, despite not much being done by the user, will not be tolerated.

C) The usage of offensive language, if used in a light manner, is fine. Nevertheless, if not in that case, then offensive language will not be allowed. Especially for the sake of toxicity. And yes, this applies to the "N" word.

Indirect harassment:

A) Abusive trash talk that goes outside of gossip won’t be tolerated. The emphasis here to notice is that this harassment is not done in a direct way yet nevertheless will not be tolerated.

B) Intentional stalking that is clearly a bother to any user will not be allowed. This is a common issue that lacks attention and should it be witnessed, it will not be ignored.

C) Lastly, even though I like sarcasm, satire sarcasm can be offensive. If it goes beyond its normal margin, it will not be overlooked. It’s fine to do it if it’s mildly funny, but being an asshole about it isn’t an option.

Downvoting:

A) Being downvoted leaves a sensation of dislike. In order to promote a peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere with a desirable mood, downvotes will not be allowed.

B) If you heavily disagree with a user’s opinion and therefore, you opt to downvote, then that is fine. That’s what downvotes are for. To show disagreement. My point here is that it shouldn’t be done regardless. In a mature debate, showing disagreement is often common and I wouldn’t censure one for doing it.

C) Downvoting out of spite will not be allowed, finally. The aim is to have a good atmosphere set inside the chatroom. And this issue will be taken with maximum caution and it will receive a great deal of attention.

Trolling:

A) Any sort of ill-intended behavior with the intention of causing chaos will not be overlooked. Trolls are not to be allowed to reign free.

B) Manipulative behavior, which is often common in trolls shall not be overlooked as well. Sociopath-like ideas and the promotion of arguments that will stir up toxicity aren’t allowed either.

C) Illogical opinions that are made out of malice and for the sake of upsetting someone will barely be overlooked either. Think before you type.

Impersonation:

A) Taking ahold of another user’s identity is authentically forbidden.

B) Utilizing someone’s real name, as your Disqus name is off-limits.

C) The majority of the time, utilizing someone’s avatar, tag, or even bio, is something that doesn’t necessarily have to be attention-worthy. However, if the user shows any malicious intent while portraying this act, then it will not be overlooked.

Cringe Behavior:

A) Any sort of behavior that goes into the line of pathetic and causes a severe awkwardness within the atmosphere will be apprehended.

B) Bad jokes or any sort of comment that contains cringe elements are unnecessary.

C) Delusional behavior can practically come with cringe, so avoid that.

Rule number 2: SPAMMING IS NOT ALLOWED.

Reasoning: While it is ideal to have a good number of comments; too much activity, based on a single user or more can come as annoying, if not completely oppressive.

For that reason alone, more than four comments per minute, main comments that are outside of replies, that is, will not be allowed.

This is fairly easy to understand. Don’t act like someone who is desperate for attention. Additionally; DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EXPLOIT THE LIMIT AS IT WILL NOT BE OVERLOOKED.

Rule number 3: DO NOT POST ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OF USERS.

Reasoning: This is the equivalent of a personal attack. That alone should explain it, but I’ll obviously go into depth.

Leaking any sort of personal information that regards users in Disqus won’t be tolerated. This is for the idealistic idea of creating a sense of equality. Just because you are not a user of this community, that won’t mean that you are excluded. No, you are not.

Further emphasis such as saying real names without the consent of the user will be placed.

Anything that goes under the lines of personal information will not be allowed.

Examples:

‣  Posting someone’s IRL picture. (I am referring to a USER’S IRL picture. If it’s not a user, then it is therefore allowed.)

‣  Leaking emails, addresses, social media accounts, without the consent of the user.

‣  Any sort of information that is also related to the user’s personal life will not be overlooked.

Rule number 4: INAPPROPRIATE PROFILE CONTENT IS FORBIDDEN.

Reasoning: Anything within the boundaries of violence or pornographic content in your profile is forbidden as it promotes the idea of inappropriate content.

Should your profile’s biography or even tag contain something that is strictly directed to any user, then that won’t be overlooked as well. I’m aware that this is highly unlikely, however, I just would like to inform you that I am extremely aware of the possibility and in case it happens, caution will be applied.

Rule number 4: ADVERTISING IS NOT ALLOWED.

Reasoning: Activity snatchers cannot exist within the chatroom. The activity is the primal source of life of a chatroom and if you strip it away, the flow will decrease. Therefore, the usage of linking that indicates activity elsewhere is strictly forbidden.

Outside of that, any linking will be allowed, as long as it’s not an activity advertiser.

Rule number 5: AVOID SENSITIVE TOPICS.

Reasoning: As an objective person myself, I can also understand the subjective people out there and those sensitive topics can be massively disturbing to discuss and a lack of empathy can be utterly critical at times.

Henceforth, in regard to promoting the idea of peace, here are the topics that should be avoided AT ALL TIMES:

◦ Politics

◦ Sports

◦ Religion

◦ DEATH

◦ Racism

◦ Hate

◦ Personal issues (unless the user is open to talking about them.)

◦ Violence

◦ Pornography

◦ Discrimination

◦ Trauma

On the other hand, I would like to mention that these topics CAN be talked about. I do love debates and I believe that they are intriguing to perceive and discuss. My only issue is the lack of empathy.

Therefore, should you want to talk about any of these topics, from an objective perspective, instead of a subjective perspective, ask a mod for permission, and that mod will judge whether or not they’ll allow it.

It’s not my intention to place this many restrictions for no reason.

Rule number 6: ALWAYS UPVOTE AND NEVER DOWNVOTE.

Reasoning: Yes, I’m aware that I am repeating myself over the downvote part, but I adjoined both of these elements for the reason of creating a wider image of my idea here.

Due to not so recent events, a downvote bot has been targeting accounts and they have been losing upvotes. Unfortunately, I am one of those individuals, however, there are worse cases as to where some accounts’ upvotes have dropped down to zero.

Despite that, in light of those that haven’t dropped down to zero, I believe that reinforcing the upvote policy makes the most sense as a method to counterattack all the lost upvotes. Plus, we all like upvotes.

Simply put; upvote.

Downvotes are the opposite of upvotes and they bring therefore the opposite of what upvotes offer. However, I’m also talking about the psychological factors of it.

Rule number 7: NSFW IS A NO.

Reasoning: Anything containing nudity cannot be allowed. That which does not contain nudity yet is highly suggestive and sexually explicit must go under a spoiler.

Rule number 8: THREAD-TOPICS ARE ABOLISHED.

Reasoning: Before you get impulsive about this, allow me to explain.

Topics serve as a method to attract activity as channels used to. It is even used as a method to resemble the affinity that channels possessed. Furthermore, they can be interesting as they serve as attention pickers.

So, despite know that, why am I abolishing them and am completely against the idea of having topics?

Well, I’ll gladly explain.

First of all, a chatroom is not a channel. The same elements are not present. If you attempt to put a thread inside a chatroom and feature it, every time a user refreshes, they will be met with this wall of text every time. Surely, the option to reduce the size is there, however, that also decreases your lengths.

Secondly, the necessity for a topic is an eye-opener that you are unable to produce independent dialogue without a topic. No user should suffer from this flaw and I will not allow it to be like that.

Thirdly, average talk is what a chatroom is made of. And it has always been this case. Altering this is a useless effort.

Ultimately, this idea of abolishing topics, as in the saying where there won’t be a mini-thread getting featured anymore, also means that there can be quality feature comments instead of this wall of text.

In addition to that, by abolishing topics, we are creating a sense of independence.

THIS IS NOT A DAMN CHATROOM THAT IS BASED ON OTHERS.

Rule number 9: PLEASE DON'T MASS TAG.

Reasoning: I’m not saying that you can’t tag. That is not what I am saying.

However, it is extremely pitiful to do so, therefore, restrain yourself.

There isn’t a restriction here; just act with common sense, please.

Rule number 10: NO SIMPING.

Reasoning: Yeah, I’ve had enough of this already.

Listen, a romance that happens between users is something holy and that should be treasured and not be confused by the cursed definition of simping.

Simping, on the other hand, is cursed and cringe.

It’s not romance, which I do not support. Fighting over a girl or a girl fighting over a boy while involving other parties in the same endeavor is BAFFLING TO WATCH.

Please don’t do this. We don’t need white knights. I am serious about this.

Rule number 11: EXPLOITING THE RULES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.

Reasoning: This is a rule that’s strictly made in case any user attempts to portray acts that exploit the rules. These are the rules. They are the law. They are NOT words for you to go over around.

Attempt any manipulative behavior that suggests exploitation, and the consequences will be applied.

And with that, the rules are done. Be aware that we are open to criticism.

Oh yes, don’t forget to recommend the chatroom, plox.
